The Poles starved Patriarch St Germogen to death for refusing to bless their rule of Moscow and for refusing the Unia. He cursed the Polish papist occupiers and blessed the opolchenie led by Minin and Pozharsky. There are objective historical reasons for Russian hatred of the Unia… this is one. Patriarch Kirill Gundyaev has a strong devotion to this saint and always celebrates his feastday in a very public and elevated way. The events of the Polish Invasion still resonate… as one sees in the “Ukraine” today. The “Ukraine” was the part of Russia under Polish occupation for decades… it wasn’t and isn’t a discrete nation or historical entity… it doesn’t go bump in the night… it never did. This is why the Church supports the opolchenie in Novorossiya today… it hasn’t officially cursed the Uniate junta, but the popular mood in the Church certainly favours it. The First Smuta lasted from 1598 to 1619. The New Smuta started in 1991… it’s been 23 years since this era began… the First Smuta lasted 21 years… are you thinking what I’m thinking? This may be the beginning of a new era in Russian history… this will flummox the West once again… I wonder how the Western pundits are going to spin this?
